The Tagus Route to Zêzere invites -o for an unforgettable trip in contact with Nature in its pure state. Pedestrian trail along the “Grande Rota Muradal-Pangeia”, Portuguese section of the most famous pedestrian trail in the World: International Appalachian Trail. The passage through the Fraga da Água d'Alta, Garganta and Meandros do Zêzere waterfalls, geomonuments of the Naturtejo Geopark classified by UNESCO, will be mandatory.
In Proença-a-Nova you will have the opportunity to visit the viewpoint in Vale Almourão to observe the magnificent landscape, with the possibility of birdwatching or, if you are more adventurous, climbing. This itinerary also includes a boat trip and departure from Vila Velha de Ródão Pier through the calm waters of the Tagus River, passing through the Portas de Ródão Natural Monument. Possibility of observing the largest colony of gryphons existing in Portugal, as well as other species of avifauna and wild fauna.
On the second day, we suggest a morning mountain bike tour and a visit to the Penha Garcia Ichnological Complex and the Serra da Malcata Nature Reserve in Penamacor in the afternoon.
