Casa do Balcão was opened in October 2014 after total refurbishment works. The name values the existence of a balcony, a level that tops the outer staircase to access the first floor where was the main residential area.
The date of construction of the building that has always belonged to the owner's family is unknown, although it does show characteristics of a sunny house from the 19th century.
The church bell, located nearby, will inform the point of the day. and sometimes they hear the rattles of a passing flock of sheep.
Only part of the building was adapted to Rural Tourism after the division of the property by three brothers. It retains the familiar and warm atmosphere of a living home, where a good deal of furniture and other objects have been recovered while retaining its own history, and all the decoration has been associated with it, combining memories with the necessary modernity without distorting them.

The Castelo Branco embroidery inscribed on old bedspreads could not but be present. The ground floor of the 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor was covered with cork and the ground floor, as was the remaining living and dining space with stoneware tiles. The four bedrooms, two double and two double, have TV (Portuguese channels). One of them allows the use of a supplementary bed for children or teenagers (Grandparents' room) and the other (Blue Room) two beds in a “somersault” sofa. From either of them one can have a beautiful view of nearby agricultural fields, and the landscape is spectacular. enjoy the small terrace of the Blue Room & #8211;
Serra de Tinalhas and farther from Guardunha and Estrela. In a long period of the year you can follow-se the stay of a couple of storks that settle and breed in front. Each room with its own bathroom is special and unique. The one on the ground floor has no full bathroom. The WC is located next to and is not for exclusive use as it may also support
common area adjoining it. There is also no air conditioner as in the other rooms, as it is unnecessary: in summer it is always cool and in winter the existing oil appliance is sufficient.
In the common area the TV set has access to a reasonable number of Portuguese and foreign channels and from here you can access the garden. At breakfast there are always homemade jams, honey from a village beekeeper, cheese and other local and homemade produce. The coffee is bought in Lisbon at a century-old specialty store and ground at the time of purchase. In the living room, always cool in summer, there is a wood burning stove built into the chimney which in winter warms up and provides a cozy atmosphere.
The kitchen can be used when booking the entire house. Barbecue place in the garden. Wi-fi free. No parking issues. The shaded garden with large trees allows for some entertainment as well.
